Clover POS Systems. Selected Honestly. Priced Completely.

Clover Hardware Is the Smallest Number on the Bill. Here Is the Rest of It.

Every Clover reseller publishes the same specification sheet. Almost none of them publish what the system costs to run every month after the hardware arrives. Sidekick does both.

Clover is a Fiserv product sold through banks and independent sales organizations and warehouse clubs. Two businesses can run identical hardware on completely different economics because the reseller sets the processing rate and the contract terms. The device is the same everywhere. The deal is not.

Which means the useful questions are not about screen size. They are which model fits how the business actually operates, what the monthly software plan costs on top of the hardware, whether the current device is still receiving updates, and what happens to the equipment if the relationship ends.

This page answers all four.

First Generation Clover Devices Reached End of App Update on May 15 2026.

Clover set an End of App Update date of May 15 2026 for first generation hardware. That covers Clover Station model C010, Clover Mobile models C020 and C021, Clover Mini models C030 and C031, and Clover Flex models C041 and C042.

A device past that date still takes payments. What it stops receiving is application updates, which means growing gaps in app compatibility, no ongoing patching, and limited support. Businesses running Gen 1 hardware generally do not know it. The device looks the same as it did in 2019 and nobody sent a letter.

Sidekick will check the model number against the lifecycle list at no charge and say plainly whether an upgrade is warranted or whether the current setup has useful life left. Sometimes the answer is that it does.

Look at the label on the underside of the device. If the model number begins C01, C02, C03, or C04 then that unit is first generation. Send the number and Sidekick will confirm.

The Devices Clover Is Actually Shipping in 2026.

Older generation units still circulate in the resale market and in the inventory of resellers clearing stock. A price that looks unusually good frequently means discontinued or refurbished hardware. Sidekick places current generation devices only. [VERIFY full Paysafe catalog availability including Flex Pocket and Clover Go]

Clover Station Duo

Two screens. A 14 inch merchant facing display and an 8 inch customer facing display. Built in receipt printer. Supports cash drawer and barcode scanner and kitchen printers. The most complete configuration Clover makes. Built for high volume counters and full service restaurants.

Clover Station Solo

Single 14 inch merchant facing screen with built in printer and cash drawer support. Same platform as the Duo without the customer facing display. Correct for staff controlled registers such as a bar or a server station where the customer never faces the screen.

Clover Mini

Countertop unit with an 8 inch display and built in printer. WiFi and cellular connectivity. Runs standalone or pairs with a Station. The default choice for counters that do not need a full station footprint.

Clover Flex

Handheld all in one. Current generation runs Android 13 with a 5.99 inch display, built in thermal printer, integrated barcode scanning camera, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE. Roughly eight hours of use per charge depending on brightness and printing and transaction volume. Built for tableside service and mobile trades and food trucks and stylists ringing up chairside.

Clover Flex

POCKET Smaller handheld positioned below the Flex. Suited to mobile operators who do not need the printer and scanner footprint. [VERIFY availability]

Clover Compact

Counter terminal with a physical backlit keypad including raised markings for accessibility and a PIN entry privacy shield. Built in thermal printer. Integrated camera for 1D and 2D barcode scanning. Ethernet and WiFi and 4G LTE. The lowest cost entry point into the platform for businesses that need reliable checkout without a full POS interface.

Clover Kiosk

Two screen self service unit with a 24 inch customer display and an integrated 8 inch payment display. Contactless and chip and magstripe and debit PIN. Built in receipt printer. Requires installation. Built for quick service ordering where reducing counter labor is the goal.

A note on connectivity. Current generation Clover devices use 4G LTE. Any listing that advertises 3G connectivity is describing hardware from a prior generation. United States carriers completed their 3G shutdown in 2022.

Pick by How the Business Operates. Not by Screen Size.

The Transaction Happens At A Fixed Counter With The Customer Facing The Screen

Station Duo. The customer facing display improves order accuracy and handles tip prompts and disclosure display cleanly, which matters when a cost recovery program is running.

The Transaction Happens At A Counter The Customer Never Sees

Station Solo. A bar well or a kitchen expo station or a back office register does not need a second screen and should not pay for one.

The Counter Is Small Or The Volume Is Moderate

Mini. Full platform capability in a countertop footprint.

The Transaction Happens Away From Any Counter

Flex. Tableside. Driveway. Client home. Trade show. Built in LTE means the sale still closes when the WiFi fails, which is the reason food trucks and contractors land here.

Checkout Needs To Be Fast And Simple And Nothing More

Compact. Lowest cost path onto the platform.

The Goal Is Removing People From The Ordering Process

Kiosk. Requires installation and a real evaluation of whether the labor savings justify the device.

MOST BUSINESSES END UP WITH A COMBINATION. A Station at the counter and a Flex on the floor is the most common restaurant configuration. Same operating system across both so staff learn one interface.

Approximate market hardware pricing runs from roughly 275 dollars at the Compact through the mid hundreds for Flex and Mini to roughly 1,600 to 1,800 for Station configurations, with Kiosk above that. Figures vary by reseller and by promotion. [VERIFY against current Paysafe schedule before publish]

Four Layers. Most Resellers Quote One.

A Clover bill has four components and the hardware is usually the least significant one over any real time horizon.

Layer One — Hardware

One time cost or zero under a placement program. Ranges above.

Layer Two — Software Plan A

monthly Clover subscription set by Clover rather than by the reseller. The tier depends on business type and feature requirements. Publicly reported plan pricing runs from roughly 14.95 a month at the entry tier through the 40s and 50s for register level plans up to roughly 84.95 for full service restaurant and retail growth configurations. Higher tiers sometimes carry lower processing rates, which means the expensive plan is occasionally the cheaper total. [VERIFY current schedule]

Layer Three — Processing

The largest line for most businesses and the one that varies most by reseller. For high volume small basket operations processing can account for the overwhelming majority of the monthly bill. Under a cash discount or dual pricing program this cost moves off the business entirely.

Layer Four — Everything Else

App marketplace subscriptions. PCI fees. Statement fees. Platform access fees. Monthly minimums. Chargeback fees. These are where merchant complaints concentrate. Sidekick charges none of the recurring junk fees in this layer.

Ask any Clover seller for a written line item quote covering hardware, software plan and tier, processing rate structure, term length, and cancellation terms. Anything short of all five cannot be compared against a competing offer. A seller who will not put those five in writing has told you something.

The Parts Nobody Volunteers.

Clover Devices Are Tied To The Merchant Account They Were Provisioned Under A

Clover terminal cannot be carried to a different processor and reactivated. This is true whether the device was leased or bought outright. A merchant who pays full retail for a Station and later switches providers generally cannot resell it or repurpose it. This single fact is the strongest argument against buying Clover hardware outright and the strongest argument for placement.

Free Hardware Offers Are Usually Equipment Leases A

noncancelable 48 or 60 month agreement with a third party finance company, signed alongside the processing paperwork, that survives both a processor change and the closing of the business. Sidekick does not lease. Sidekick places hardware and retains ownership, which is why the merchant can leave any month.

Clover Questions Answered Straight.

Check the model number on the underside of the device. Clover set an End of App Update date of May 15 2026 for first generation hardware including Clover Station C010, Clover Mobile C020 and C021, Clover Mini C030 and C031, and Clover Flex C041 and C042. Devices past that date continue to process payments but stop receiving application updates, which produces app compatibility gaps and limited support over time. Sidekick checks model numbers at no charge and will say when a device still has useful life rather than pushing an upgrade.

It depends on where the transaction happens. Fixed counter with the customer facing the screen points to Station Duo. Staff only register such as a bar or expo station points to Station Solo. Small counter or moderate volume points to Mini. Payment taken away from a counter such as tableside or in a driveway points to Flex, whose built in LTE keeps the sale closing when WiFi drops. Simple fast checkout points to Compact. Self service ordering points to Kiosk. Most restaurants end up with a Station at the counter and a Flex on the floor running the same operating system.

Four layers. Hardware is a one time cost or zero under a placement program. The Clover software plan is a monthly subscription set by Clover rather than the reseller, publicly reported from roughly 14.95 at the entry tier up to roughly 84.95 for full service restaurant and retail growth configurations. Processing is usually the largest line and varies most by reseller. The fourth layer is app subscriptions and administrative fees such as PCI charges, statement fees, platform access fees, and monthly minimums. Sidekick charges none of the recurring fees in that fourth layer. Any quote that covers only the software plan is incomplete.

Ownership and usability are different questions. Even a device purchased outright is provisioned to a specific Clover merchant account and cannot be moved to another processor and reactivated. A merchant who buys a Station and later switches providers owns hardware that will not function on the new account. Under a Sidekick placement the device remains Sidekick property, the merchant never spends the capital, and the exposure never exists.

Sometimes. It depends on the device generation, the current provisioning, and the terms of any existing lease or agreement. Send the model number and the current processing statement and Sidekick will give a direct answer including whether an existing lease has to run its course first.

Clover is a Fiserv product distributed through banks and independent sales organizations and warehouse clubs, and each distributor sets its own processing rate and contract terms. Two businesses running identical hardware can operate on very different economics. The device is identical regardless of source. The agreement attached to it is not, which is why the written line item quote matters more than the hardware comparison.

Yes. Some higher tiers carry lower processing rates. On sufficient volume the rate reduction can exceed the plan increase, which makes the more expensive plan the cheaper total. This is worth modeling against actual volume rather than assuming the entry tier is the economical choice.

No. Sidekick places current generation devices. Prices that look unusually low in this category frequently indicate discontinued or refurbished units that no longer receive updates or support.

Send the Model Number. Send the Statement. Get a Straight Answer.

Sidekick will confirm whether the current hardware is still supported, which device fits the operation, and what the full monthly cost looks like across all four layers. If the existing setup is fine then that is the answer.
