About Sidekick Payment Solutions

The Person Who Answers the Phone.

Sidekick Payment Solutions was founded by Rocky Catala after fourteen years inside the merchant services industry. He knows exactly how the pricing works. He watched it get built.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

A Message From Rocky Catala.

For more than fourteen years I have worked with hundreds of business owners. Most of them run small operations where every dollar already has a job to do. Across all of that time one thing has stayed constant. The relationship matters more than the transaction.

Rocky Catala Owner Sidekick Payment Solutions

I have watched what this industry does to good people. A rate quoted at signing that quietly climbs by year two. A fee that appears on a statement with no explanation. A support line that answers in forty five minutes with a script instead of an answer. Business owners absorb it because they are busy running the thing they actually built and they assume this is simply how payment processing works.

It is not how it has to work.

I started Sidekick Payment Solutions so business owners would have somewhere to go that treats them the way I would want to be treated. Deliver real service. Build a relationship that lasts. Be reachable when something goes wrong, because something always eventually goes wrong and that moment is the only one that ever tells you what a company is made of.

I do not want Sidekick to be the company that processes your payments. I want Sidekick to be the resource you call when you need one.

FOURTEEN YEARS INSIDE MERCHANT SERVICES

What Fourteen Years in This Industry Actually Teaches You.

Fourteen years in merchant services means I did not learn how this business works from a training manual. I learned it from the inside while it was happening.

Here is the first thing you find out. Almost nobody in this industry is paid to stay. The compensation structure rewards the signature. An agent gets paid when the account boards and after that the incentive to answer the phone drops off a cliff. That is not a character flaw in the people doing the work. It is the design. When you understand that one fact, every frustrating thing about this industry suddenly makes sense.

The second thing you learn is that confusion is a product. A statement with forty line items and six pricing tiers is not the unavoidable result of a complicated business. Somebody chose that format. A merchant who cannot read their own statement cannot compare it to a competitor's offer, and a merchant who cannot compare offers does not leave. Complexity is a retention strategy.

The third thing is who actually gets the good rates. Volume merchants negotiate. Small businesses take what they are handed and are told it is standard. There is no standard. There is only what a merchant knew to ask for.

I spent fourteen years watching business owners lose money to arrangements they never fully understood and were never given a fair chance to understand. Eventually watching it stopped being acceptable.

Sidekick exists because I already know where every one of those levers is. I know how rate creep gets implemented because I watched it get implemented. I know what a junk fee is called on a statement so it does not look like a junk fee. Knowing where the tricks are is only useful if you decide not to use them, and that decision is the entire company.

HOW THE PROMISE SHOWS UP

Honor. Service. Integrity.

Three words that every company in this category claims. They only mean something when they survive contact with a situation where breaking them would be profitable. Here is what each one costs Sidekick in practice.

01

HONOR MEANS THE NUMBER DOES NOT MOVE

The rate quoted at signing is the rate on the statement in month twelve. No creep. No repricing letter mailed in July when nobody opens mail. If a cost changes the client hears it from Sidekick before it appears on a statement.

02

SERVICE MEANS A HUMAN ANSWERS

Not a ticket queue. Not a chatbot. Not a hold time. When a terminal fails on the busiest night of the year somebody who knows the account picks up.

03

INTEGRITY MEANS SAYING THE UNPROFITABLE THING

Sidekick reviews the current statement and sometimes the honest conclusion is that the existing processor is already giving a better deal. Clients hear that answer when it is true. A company that only tells a business owner the profitable thing has told them nothing.

OUR MISSION

Two Jobs. Lower the Cost. Answer the Phone.

Sidekick exists to do two things. Reduce what a business pays to accept payments. And provide the service level that disappeared from this industry somewhere along the way.

Most merchants can only find providers who do one or the other. The cheap ones vanish after activation. The attentive ones charge for the privilege. Sidekick was built on the position that a business owner should not have to pick.

Every merchant deserves to understand what they are paying for, to have access to a program that genuinely lowers that cost, and to know exactly who to call when something needs fixing. None of that is a premium service. It is the floor.

THE INDUSTRY PATTERN

The Part of This Industry Nobody Defends.

A business signs up. The equipment arrives. The account activates. And then the provider is gone.

Six months later a chargeback lands and nobody knows who to call. The rate looks different and there is no explanation. A terminal fails on a Saturday and the number on the paperwork rings into a queue. The representative who sold the account has moved to a different company and the merchant is now a line in a portfolio somebody else owns.

That pattern is not a failure of the industry. It is the structure of it. Agents get paid at signing. Nothing in the compensation model rewards answering the phone in year three.

Sidekick is built the other way. Month to month terms mean a client can leave any month for any reason. That is not generosity. It is the only mechanism that keeps a payment company accountable after the sale, and Sidekick chose it deliberately.

WHAT CONCIERGE ACTUALLY MEANS

Knowing the Account. Not Just Opening It.

Concierge is a word this industry uses without defining. Here is what it means at Sidekick.

01

SIDEKICK LEARNS HOW THE BUSINESS ACTUALLY RUNS

Where transactions happen. What the average ticket looks like. Which season carries the volume. What technology is already in place and what it costs. That conversation happens before a program gets recommended rather than after.

02

THE PROGRAM GETS BUILT AROUND THAT

Not a template with a business name inserted. A restaurant and a mobile contractor and an appointment based practice need three different configurations and three different compliance setups.

03

THE RELATIONSHIP CONTINUES AFTER ACTIVATION

Statement reviews. Equipment questions. Chargeback support. Configuration changes as the business grows. New locations. New payment channels.

04

THE ACCOUNT GETS REVISITED

Businesses change. A shop that opens an online store or adds a second location or moves to appointment based booking has a different payment problem than it had at signing. Sidekick raises that rather than waiting for the client to discover it.

CLEAR TERMS

The Working Rules.

01

MONTH TO MONTH ALWAYS

No contracts. No cancellation fees. Clients stay because the program earns it every month.

02

EVERY COST DISCLOSED BEFORE SIGNING

No monthly minimums. No statement fees. No PCI noncompliance charges. No annual fees in fine print. The quoted number is the paid number.

03

HARDWARE PLACED NOT LEASED

Qualifying merchants receive equipment at no hardware cost with no lease and no buyout clause. The device stays Sidekick property and gets returned if the relationship ends.

04

THE RIGHT PROGRAM OR NO PROGRAM

Cash discount fits some industries and not others. Sidekick sorts businesses honestly rather than selling one product to everyone.

05

TECHNOLOGY THAT MATCHES THE OPERATION

Countertop. Handheld. Self service. Virtual terminal. Gateway. Recurring billing. Selected by how the business takes money.

06

ENGLISH AND SPANISH

Every conversation and every document and every support call available in both languages.

THE NAME

Why Sidekick.

The name was a deliberate choice and it describes the role exactly.

Every superhero has one. The partner who shows up when it matters. Who handles the part the hero should not have to carry alone. Who never needs the credit for it. Nobody saves the world by themselves.

In this story the business owner is the hero. They built the thing. They serve the customers and manage the staff and carry the payroll and make every decision that moves the company forward. That is the lead role and it is not the one Sidekick is auditioning for.

Sidekick handles the payment side so the owner never has to think about it. Standing beside the business rather than in front of it. Reliable in the moment it matters and out of the way the rest of the time.

Better service. Stronger relationships. Smarter payment solutions. That is what merchant services should have been all along.

NEW COMPANY. REAL EXPERIENCE.

New Company. Experienced Operator.

Sidekick Payment Solutions is a young company and that is worth stating plainly rather than hiding behind stock photography and vague claims about decades of combined experience.

The company is new. The person running it is not. Fourteen years working with business owners came before the company existed. Sidekick was built specifically to do that work without the constraints that made it frustrating inside somebody else's organization.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Questions About Sidekick.

Rocky Catala founded and owns Sidekick Payment Solutions. He has worked inside the merchant services industry for more than fourteen years and has served hundreds of small business owners across that time.
Sidekick Payment Solutions is a new company built on fourteen years of prior experience in merchant services. The company states that openly rather than implying a longer history. Clients evaluating Sidekick are evaluating the operator and the terms rather than a corporate track record, which is why every agreement runs month to month with no cancellation penalty.
Rocky or someone at Sidekick who knows the account. Sidekick does not route clients through a national call center. The person who sets up the account is the person who answers when something breaks.
The relationship continues. Statement reviews. Equipment support. Chargeback assistance. Configuration changes as the business grows. Most providers in this industry go quiet after activation because agent compensation pays at signing and rewards nothing afterward. Sidekick operates month to month specifically so that staying engaged is the only way to keep the account.
Fourteen years inside the industry means Rocky already knows where every pricing lever sits and how rate increases get implemented without a merchant noticing. Sidekick was built on the decision not to use any of them. Large processors compete on scale. Sidekick competes on the quoted number staying the same and on somebody answering the phone.
Yes. On site installation and training are available across Miami-Dade and Broward. Setup and support are available nationally by phone and remote configuration.
Yes and it costs nothing. Send the current statement. Sidekick reads it and reports what is being paid today against what would be paid with Sidekick. If the existing arrangement is already better then that is the answer given.
